Jackson Community Table

We need your help! Details on how to help this ministry are below.

The Jackson County Ministerial Association was contacted by DVHHS with the concern that our communities have many families that are likely to be facing additional hardship in the form of food insecurity as a result of the government shutdown. Already there have been several reports that EBT cards for SNAP benefits have not been replenished. Additionally, when these benefits do return, it is likely that they will not return at the same level as before. DVHHS predicts that there could be many people who will be experiencing a sharp increase in their food insecurity in the short term.

In response to this situation, the churches of the Jackson County Ministerial Association are uniting to help people facing food insecurity.

The Jackson Community Table is a free meal organized by the Jackson County Ministerial Association offered especially for those feeling the pinch of the government shutdown. The meal will happen in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 614 Logan Ave., Jackson, MN 56143, on Sunday nights in November from 5:00-6:00pm.

Questions and Answers

  1. Does this affect Our Savior’s Thanksgiving Service and Meal in any way? No. We will still be working as a congregation to provide this meal to the community, and good planning is already underway.

  2. How long will we continue providing this meal for the community? Right now, the plan is to provide this meal weekly through November 23. After a few weeks, we will evaluate whether it is necessary to continue these meals beyond November. Factors will include attendance, whether or not the government is still shut down, and the ongoing community food insecurity situation.
