Children, Youth, and Family Ministries Kick Off This Week

It’s a big week at Our Savior’s. We’re launching our fall children, youth, and family ministries, and there’s something for every age. Here’s what’s coming up.
Release Time (3rd–5th Grade) — Starts Wednesday, September 16
Our Release Time program for third, fourth, and fifth graders kicks off this Wednesday. Third graders meet from 1:00–2:00pm with me, Brynn Jordahl, and Deb Mathias — it’s going to be a lot of fun, and I’m really excited to work with this group.
Permission slips have been sent home through the school. They need to be returned by Wednesday morning for your child to be eligible. If you have questions about that, please get in touch.
Confirmation (6th–8th Grade) — Starts Wednesday, September 16
Confirmation classes begin this Wednesday at 3:00–4:00pm. There are no office hours before this first class since there’s no assigned memory work yet.
An identical session is offered Sundays at 6:00–7:00pm. Students only need to attend one class per week — pick whichever works best.
One important note: if there’s a weather cancellation on a Wednesday, there will also be a cancellation of confirmation on the corresponding following Sunday. Any questions? Just reach out.
Lighthouse (Pre-K–5th Grade) — Wednesday, September 16, 6:00–7:00pm
We’re excited to start Lighthouse on Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00–7:00pm. Parents should plan to come in with their kids to register and make sure permission slips are filled out and updated for this year. We’ve got fun games and music planned — it’ll be a great start to the Lighthouse year.
Branches Youth Group (9th–12th Grade) — Wednesday, September 16, 7:00–8:00pm
Branches is our high school youth group for grades 9–12, jointly run with Pastor John Schuetz of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. This year we’re studying the Gospel of John — focused on Scripture, creed, and confession.
Every session starts with Compline (Night Prayer) in the Centrum here at Our Savior’s, then we move to the Parlor for Bible study. Branches meets 7:00–8:00pm on Wednesdays starting September 16.
Sunday School (Ages 3–5th Grade) — Starts Sunday, September 20
This Sunday, September 20, we launch a new Sunday School ministry! During worship, children will be dismissed after the sermon to join Miss Brynn for crafts, games, and kid-friendly lesson opportunities. It’ll vary from week to week, and she has a lot of cool stuff planned.
Sunday School is for kids ages 3 through 5th grade — we wanted to keep it simple and clear.
