Bible Translation Talk

Pastor will be giving a “Pastor Ted Talk” on Bible Translations on Sunday 9/21 following worship.

Some background: We currently use the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) as our standard translation at Our Savior’s. This is what we primarily use in worship, use as our standard version for Confirmation class, give as gifts to confirmands, etc. Unfortunately, the New Revised Standard Version is going out of print and is being replaced by a new version, the NRSV Updated Edition (NRSVue)

Over time, it is going to become more difficult for us to find the original NRSV, so now is a wise time for us to think about what we would like to use as our Bible translation for the next generation. Do we want to switch to the NRSVue? Explore other options such as the English Standard Version (ESV) or New King James Version (NKJV)?
