Scam Warning!

It has come to my attention today that at least one person in our congregation has received a text message purporting to be from me asking them to buy Apple Gift cards on my behalf. They had a plausible sounding story about needing them to help someone with cancer. They promised that the church would immediately reimburse them for the expense. They had a plausible sounding excuse for why the message came by text message and not a phone call. They made it sound urgent.

This was a scam!

To be completely clear: No staff member or leader at Our Savior’s will EVER ask you to purchase gift cards on behalf of the church. (If there was ever a need for such a thing, the need would only be communicated in person.)

I’m grateful to the staff member who wisely declined to participate in this scam today, and I encourage you to call me at 507-832-0099 to corroborate any such messages. Don’t be fooled!
